A year ago I read about radpro, an open source firmware which turns mediocre chinese geiger counters into great geiger counters. I got one, not because I need a geiger counter but who doesn't want to have a decent radiation detector to play with for ~40€.

Now someone cool built radpro-wifi-bridge, a esp32-s3 firmware that connects radpro to a mqtt broker using the esp32's wifi. And it works! Soon my home assistant might have geiger counter measurements 🤓

„Right to Repair“ klingt gut – scheitert aber oft an der Praxis.

Im Artikel: Warum „schraubbar“ nicht automatisch reparierbar ist – teure Baugruppen, verklebte Konstruktionen, digitales Pairing/Teile-Codierung sowie Cloud- und Abo-Abhängigkeiten.

Fazit: Solange Wegwerfen billiger ist, bleibt Reparatur schwer. Darum beim Kauf prüfen: Geht das in 3–10 Jahren noch ohne Spezialsoftware, Cloud und Mondpreise?
