Sain juuri mailin, jossa kerrottiin, että Rsync.netin laskutusjärjestelmiin pääsi ulkopuolinen taho 29.1 - 5.2 välisenä aikana.

Mitä tietoja asiakkaista on saattanut vuotaa:
- Yhteystiedot
- Maksutapa
- Muita satunnaisia tietoja, kuten tallennusrajat sekä mahdolliset alennukset

Mitä tietoja EI ole vuotanut:
- Luottokorttitiedot
- Oman tiedostojärjestelmän tiedostot
- IP-osoitteet
- SSH-avaimet

Toisin sanoen maksujärjestelmä on täysin erillään varsinaisesta palvelusta, jota rsync.net tarjoaa.

#tietomurto #rsyncnet

Yesterday I reinstalled my #HomeAssistant system, doing it the recommended way rather than running it on my already existing Debian install. So I've been poking through the integrations and such again, and discovered that the WebDav integration allows it to automatically put the daily backups into my #NextCloud install. This means it'll automatically end up in my normal #rsyncnet backups without having to mess around with giving my backup server SSH and rsync access to it directly.
Moving #backups from #rsyncNet to a #Hetzner storage box. Sorry rsync.net, it's not you, it's what your government can compel you to do.

@cocoa If you want extreme flexibility, I can recommend #RSyncNet https://rsync.net/

They operate what is essentially an online filesystem for you, available via multiple protocols including SSH.

All the rest is up to you, but that means it has very simple pricing, and it works with lots of different client applications.

Cloud Storage for Offsite Backup

https://www.rsync.net/ -- a shout-out: I have been using them for off-site backups and I like their model a lot. their interaction with customers is also very good. and from the point of view of protecting their users: they seem to have been the first adopters of the "warrant canary" ( https://www.rsync.net/resources/notices/canary.txt )

rsync.net, Inc. on Twitter

“Get. Off. My. Lawn. We don't have an app. Our API is called POSIX. There's no web interface. https://t.co/03c1o1Yy5n is an empty UNIX filesystem you access with any SSH tool: rsync/sftp/borg/restic/rclone Not sure what this means ? Our cloud storage is NOT for you.”

Recently I have been taking another look at the services at rsync.net and it got me thinking: what would I do with a lot of storage? What might I want to run with it, if it were fairly cheap? Backu…
