Back in the late 90s, when TI already ruled calculators in High Schools, I selected HP48 as my platform. It is a high-end engineering calculator with CAS capabilities, native units, stack based interface and programmable in RPL.

Recently I purchased a near mint HP48G and again have a physical calculator on my desk.

J’adore ces machines où l’UX est… mécanique.
La HP-46 (1973) combine calcul scientifique, RPN et imprimante intégrée : tu obtiens une trace papier immédiate et le clac-clac vaut un ASMR vintage. 😄

...Вот именно поэтому для подсчтета всякой бытовой херни у меня есть какулятор в обратной польской нотации 😉 Всё лежит в стеке, нет «алгоритмического» порядка операций 😉 нету скобок, понятно даже ребенку с первого раза. На #FDroid гуглить RPN Calculator, вот этот самое огниво при том, что прост как три копейки.

@futurebird User of HP calcs since the 80s, not everyones cup of tea. #RPN: Removal of parenthesis during calculations. Having operators before and after operands to calculate arbitrary expressions translates to speed and clarity of input.

@bitzero i went to uni in the late 70s to early 80s, & i was in the opposing camp... i chose to swap my hitherto #sliderule for a TI-59, with its dinky little magnetic cards & internal motor, + #RPN also, ofc. several of my friends also bought the same one, though one went for the TI-58. other friends did go the HP route, specifically the HP-41C iirc. fun times.
