Been too long since had a lifeboaty day, so very much making up for it. #rnli #rnli200 This is, appropriately, Swanage's 13th lifeboat, the 'George Thomas Lacy'. The first 13 in its number is the class (length) - and the second because it was the 13th Shannon class boat to be built. Love it.

Community Strength at Stromness #RNLI200

It was a Sunday afternoon filled with pipes and drums resonating around the town of Stromness. What marked 5th May 2024 as special, however, was the outpouring of community love and support for the RNLI. The RNLI launched its first lifeboat in 1824 and since then the charity, run by volunteers, has saved more than 146,000 lives at sea. "24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the RNLI is ready to save lives."

Finishing today with a small flotilla to celebrate #RNLI200

Few people know that the lochness monster having seen many boating disasters in its thousands of years existence is of course a hugh supporter of the charity
.

The word "hero" is thrown about too freely these days, but one place where it's absolutely due is for every person involved with the RNLI, which has it's 200th anniversary today. Thank you. #RNLI200
