I'd prefer not posting at the many ways the world sucks right now. But ignoring it would be wrong.

What I would like to talk about is that time I was using an Apple IIe I found for cheap and a power supply RIFA capacitor blew up, releasing a familiar smell (smelled it a few times before but didn't know much about RIFA caps when younger).

Anyway, it smelled awful. Then I replaced it with a another filter cap. Because fixing stuff is fun. That's the stuff I like to talk about.

Wer sich mit alten #Audio - und #Hifi - Geräten beschäftigt, hat so ein Bauteil, häufig als Funkentstörkondensator im Netzschalterbereich an der Netzspannung, mit einer gewissen Wahrscheinlichkeit schon gesehen - und es hoffentlich ausgetauscht.

Mannaggia che sfortuna … durato poco … questo #tv credo sia saltato un condensatore … mi dicono che sia chiama #rifa … qualcuno mi suggerisce di dissaldarlo e riaccendere il tv . Questi condensatori servono per filtrare la corrente della #220 … non essendo un esperto proverò a fare quello che mi suggeriscono , sperando di non folgorarmi. 😅
Eppure nonostante lo scoppiettio e fumo , l’immagine si vedeva molto bene .
Spero di riportarlo in vita #crt #grundig @giochi

I just bought pure evil from ebay - RIFA caps... to replace the suicidal RIFA caps I already have. I'm guessing I'll be in my 80s time I replace them again. #rifa #retrocomputing
