This is a fascinating interview with #StevenPinker.
I'd never come across #Quillette before, but the interviewer's questions betray its political slant pretty much immediately. Pinker elegantly sidesteps the elephant traps his interviewer sets (deliberately or inadvertently), and gives interesting, thoughtful answers. You might disagree with some (as I do) or all, but you have to allow Pinker has matured into a proper public intellectual.

Teachers in Manatee County, Florida, are being told to make their classroom libraries — and any other "unvetted" book — inaccessible to students, or risk felony prosecution. The new policy is part of an effort to comply with new laws and regulations championed by Governor Ron DeSantis (R). It is based on the premise, promoted by right-wing advocacy groups, that teachers and librarians are using books to "groom" students or indoctrinate them with leftist ideologies.

Although #DaveRubin likes speaking to intellectuals, he is not one, and this makes him ill-suited to stewarding serious intellectual discussions. He is a talk-show host, and his softball interviewing style—affable, accommodating, agreeable, and eager-to-please—seems to be the product of general, not strategic, ignorance.
