June is PRIDE month and I want to take the time to explicitly say how incredibly happy and honored I feel that so many LGBT+/Queer folks make Babka Social their home.

On a personal level, I feel privileged that you're here, that you put your trust in me and in this service, and I want to honor that privilege with not only a PRIDE month message, but also a reiteration of my commitment to a safe and inclusive online space.

This space is a safe space for Jews, and that includes you. I see what you bring, both as individuals and as a group. You are a vital part of this community and Babka is lucky to have you here.

Thank you for being here, and I wish you and everyone a happy, loving, and beautiful PRIDE month.

Gay Congregation Celebrates Its Identity With New Home in Manhattan

It has taken Beit Simchat Torah, once hit hard by AIDS, 43 years to be able to build a synagogue designed for its needs, in a property that it owns. On April 3, it will officially open its new home on West 30th Street.

The Cult of Shiv

I’ll be honest, I find the book “Torah Queeries” so-so. Some chapters are good but others are… not so good. But it’s nice to have a different take on each #parsha.

This one, when I posted it, I was thinking, “it’s rather egotistical to compare ourselves to Moses!” but I think in my stage of learning I’m still in the “what did this mean in the historical context?” and not, “what metaphors can we take from this?”.

This morning this makes more sense. #Vaera #QueerJews
