@davidruffner Friendship can be elusive wherever you look, and a network like this is pretty large and pretty public. I guess the closest I have to Fedi friends are largely people I met in person (for example at the events organized by my geographically focused instance) and/or where we had some other common interest/experience, such as having been on the #MastodonLOL server when that was around.
@kdj8 My first instance was #MastodonLol amd fortunately I had already been scouting out where I might move to before that blew up spectacularly. #MastodonDotLol

Hmm, so my previous server self-destructed, but my account and account posts can still be seen in search... isn't that supposed to have been scrubbed as well?

I thought I could just jump ship if a server went down ._.

#mastodonlol

@fediblock Oh interesting on the #MastodonLOL hashtag we noticed that the destroy didn't happen but I'm not enough of an admin to have even thought of whether having other admins suspend it would improve matters.

Well, this is sad, I found a Mastodon instance that a nice journalist I wanted to follow had signed up for. It's shut down. 😿

#Mastodon #MastodonPerformance #MastodonLol

Geez, I feel like I'm getting #mastodonlol flashbacks all over again with #blahajzone with the slow, spotty, unreliable access to the server. Might have to consider #migration
If anyone has any thoughts on
#misskey or #iceshrimp , let me know! (Server suggestions appreciated as well)

Hi there.
I came from mastodon.lol. It was interesting and funny there I felt like home.
You know, they shut down and we all had to leave, so I came to tech.lgbt. But now mastodon is boring, less posts no real interaction.
At about every other day I saw an interesting post, where I wrote an answer or take part in the discussion.
Now there are less posts and they are very different, not my things. So why?
I follow still the same hashtags. But Mastodon is VERY different now.
Did I choose the wrong server? Can't be in a shared network, can it?
Why is there a difference?
I suppose tech.lgbt does not has as much users - but hey this is a network, and the server is much more focused into my interests than my old home.

So what happend, or what I am doing wrong. Anybody here who can help me?

- or at least inform me what happened?
Any other ex-mastodon.lol user with similar experiences?

Thank you
#trans, #transgender, #mastodonlol

edited to correct my bad english/add hashtags

Hi. Brief #introduction ... I was on #MastodonLol but not very active and apparently missed its closure. So I'm starting all over here. I work in a #PublicLibrary, have a #geology background, am a #Wikipedian and somewhat more general #Wikimedian, am a #UnitarianUniversalist, #Demisexual #panromantic #cisgender #endosex #woman. I love my #wife and #cats. Now I have to try to find all my friends here again. If any of the above sounds like you, say hi.
An#Introduction for a new instance as I'm fleeing #MastodonLol 's collapse. Hiya I'm a DJ and a scholar (professor/teacher/researcher/writer) into #Djing #abolition #scifi #disabilityjustice #criticalracetheory , #laborjustice #anticolonial (or un- or de- ) moves, and thinking about #quantification #ethics (I am NOT an ethicist or philosopher), (critical) #IPlaw #technology and other structures of power. I try to live my values as best I can, stand up for whats right, build and connect, support and develop structures of #care, (that requires that we) dance and eat good food. I write about #pirateradio #surveillance #soundsystemculture
I'm based in #philly . I learn from, love, and am newly a home-sharer and #caregiver to my elderly and awesome mother. Currently mourning a beloved #dog (I do also love #cats and #capybaras ). I play and listen to many genres, longtime faves include #jungle #dancehall #dub #ukgarage #kuduro #gqom #dembow #soca #rocksteady #breakcore #champeta #cumbia #footwork for djing I lean strongly towards heavy #bass and broken/swung/triplet beats.
not sure if I got this right on the #mastodonlol saga but seems like the early shutdown and all its consequences (people needing to pack up and seek a new home, accounts not migrating on time and losing followers, network loss in the diaspora...) are a direct consequence of the great Twittermigration, giving some servers that kept registration open and didn't scale moderation teams a hug of death...
