hey fedi I have a simple question about QR codes: can they have single character errors? I'm paying bills via qr codes lately and my country's payment system has several long strings of identifying numbers that I double check against the bill every time before I pay. am I wasting time? Is a scanned qr code always 100% correct?

Releasing Barcoder 0.5.0

Finally a release, which I think could be truly useful to people out there. This time you can have a vector image as output.

Sounds like a small thing, right? But remember when you for the last time tried to resize a QR code onto a document you've made and it was all blurry and ugly. NOT WITH this app!

So if you work in a field, where you need barcodes or eventually QR codes grab it from Flathub...

Every QR code you scan traces back to a 1994 car factory. Engineer Masahiro Hara at Denso Wave (a Toyota subsidiary) needed to track auto parts faster than barcodes allowed, so he designed a 2D code readable from any angle. The three corner squares use a rare 1:1:3:1:1 black-and-white ratio that scanners lock onto instantly. Denso Wave kept the patent but never enforced it, which is why QR codes went everywhere.
