Ever since they started including non-free firmware in Debian, it's been getting a lot better, IMHO.
I'm relatively close to a #FreeSoftware #Purist, but I don't really see the great harm in having the firmware loaded from RAM vs just residing unchanging in an EEPROM.
I'm glad Debian made that change a couple years back.
