I've been following the BeyondTrust - Treasury incident and was reminded today of this line I included in the 2025 "areas of concern" report for our Board as CIO/ISO.
Funny thing was I hesitated slightly before naming (back in November) compromises via MSP, SaaS, and Cloud-run technology products as a top concern, because I've not really been seeing it highly ranked by opinionators.
Now I'm feeling even more strongly that this was the right call.

E-bike charging infrastructure done right.

@JamesGleick These chargers are common here (Belgium), indeed. Sometimes on the pavement (👎🏻) sometimes on the parking spot itself (👍🏻).
But downside to not concentrate chargers in e-stations, is that these (‘parking’) spaces cannot be permanently/temporarily used for more social purposes, like ‘parklets’. This too is a movement that’s gaining strength in Europe.
The struggle for the public domain (here the curbside) goes on.

Als het tijdperk van de analoge fiets voorbij is, en we meer en meer elektrisch gaan rijden, dan moeten we onze stedelijke, gemeentelijke en landelijke infrastructuur daar dringend op gaan aanpassen.
Die infrastructuur gaat niet enkel om betere fietspaden, maar evenzeer om (vlotte, veilige, toegankelijke,…) laadpunten 🔌 en fietsparkeerplaatsen 🅿️.

De ‘gewone’ fiets staat onder druk. Fietshandelaars verkopen steeds minder niet-elektrische fietsen en ook fabrikanten snoeien stevig in dat aanbod. “Wij blijven de ‘gewone’ fietsen aanbieden”, zegt Nicolas Vandeleur, gedelegeerd bestuurder bij Oxfordbikes. “Maar na verloop van tijd zullen alleen de elektrische overblijven.”

An omnipresent and confusing example of #PublicTechnology from Flanders, Belgium.
On the left we have an acoustic traffic signal (“rateltikker”) for blind people, with the street layout in relief (two car lanes from the left, then one tram track from the left and one tram track from the right).
On the right we have our classical beg button, to request green 🚦 for pedestrians.
Too many people push the rateltikker to request green, especially when there is no beg button present.
