In October, I'm going to get spit-roasted. I'm going to get an upper endoscopy to see what's going on with my esophagus. I'm likely to be suffering from GERD.

I'm also going to get a colonoscopy as a routine cancer screening.

Both procedures will take place one after the other.

I've started a course of proton pump inhibitor for my GERD yesterday... and... strangely... I feel that my mood has improved. I did a search and found medical articles that talk about the relationship between GERD and depression and anxiety. The relationship apparently goes both ways.

I wonder why my proton pump inhibitor tastes like cherry.

Was there some sort of original taste that needed masking?

Like... rotten skunk carcass.

Oh, yeah. The latest developments about my quest to return to a more or less good night of sleep.

I did not need earplugs, but now I do.

I did need white noise, but now I don't.

I've switched my anti-reflux medicine from generic Tums (calcium carbonate) to a proton pump inhibitor.

Temperature lowered from 74F to 72F. (That's 3.293 cats to 3.143 cats for those who measure in cats.)

My last few nights have been interrupted by me peeing.
