Was I the only one who thought Princess Elise's eyes were gray at first? I thought it was quite poetic, as I had thought that it was indicative of her role as seal on Iblis. I even described them as "ashen" in one of my fanfic drafts to lean into that.

Mayyyybe in the cheaper cutscenes her eyes were blue? But we all know the budget-eating cutscenes were what really counted for character design.  

I remembered seeing her eyes described as blue in one fanfic and not thinking much of it. That maybe the author just thought blue eyes would make her prettier. Then reading another where Sonic specifically fixates on her eyes being blue, to the point that the author had blue eyes TAGGED. Then, when I actually started paying attention, I kept seeing these Emerald-blue eyes in fanart, over and over again...

Now that I look more closely at certain screencaps, her eyes do look kind of blue (Depending on the lighting, of course. Depending on the lighting)...

Have you ever come across an artwork that just randomly aligns with one of your headcanons?

I don't think Sonic would be much of a cuddler in general, but one of my oddly specific headcanons is that Sonic likes to lay next to Elise and just. Listen to her heartbeat.  

In 06, he lost her—as in, she actually died, so the idea of him trying to confirm that yes, she really is there, even if he doesn't fully realize what he's doing or why he's doing it, is so heartwarming to me.

Sonic set Elise down, her legs wobbling as she got used to solid ground.

"This won't take a second." Sonic stretched, cracked his knuckles, and bolted towards the robots that had been following them.
He spin dashed into one, then roundhouse kicked the next, and the bots exploded in a burst of flames. Sonic emerged unscathed.

Elise was completely silent. Sonic certainly had a flair for the dramatic, but seeing him in action was something else. He was still now; the only sign anything of note had happened were the broken robot parts and the wind he had picked up, which still tugged at her hair and dress.

"You okay?"

You just used your body as a projectile to destroy robots, and you ask me if I'm okay?

"Oh. Yes. I am." Elise at last said. "I just didn't think that you could take care of them so quickly! You really are as amazing as they say!"

Sonic chuckled, scratching his spines. "Yeah. I guess." his eyes widened, and he corrected himself. "What I mean to say is—it is kinda cool, when you think about it—" Sonic kept compulsively rubbing his shoulder.

"You don't have any bruises, do you?"

Sonic's hand faltered, and he let it fall to his side. "Huh?"

"You're rubbing your shoulder." Elise kneeled next to him and took his arm. "Are you sure you're okay?"

Sonic tried to pull away, but she already was holding him.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I was just, y'know—"

Elise's face fell when he broke out of her grasp.

Sonic looked at her apologetically, looking away. "I'm just not used to being fussed over, that's all." he started scratching his nose.

Dramatic in more ways than one, it seemed.
