As Andy Papale said, we have a bunch of papers with both rats and mice on the #RestaurantRow task. (The data is all in https://www.nature.com/articles/s42003-022-04235-6, and publicly available.) Generally, we talk about similarities, but mice learn slower. Rats show the transition from wait zone to #precommitment in the offer zone in a few days, while mice take a lot longer.

Another space where I think there have been rat and mouse comparisons (although I don't find any explicit comparisons) is in the place field stability literature. My memory is that Cliff Kentros had really cool data on (#PlaceCell) #PlaceField stability as a function of #hippocampus #dopamine levels and task. (https://www.nature.com/articles/s42003-022-04235-6) Rats tended to live on the high-DA (place cells are stable) side while mice tended to live on the low-DA (place cells are unstable) side. But both could be manipulated with tasks and #dopamine (ant)agonists. I don't know if anyone explicitly looked at this.

Sunk cost sensitivity during change-of-mind decisions is informed by both the spent and remaining costs - Communications Biology

Computationally parallel ‘change-of-mind’ tasks in mice, rats and humans are analysed and demonstrate that sensitivity to sunk costs during re-evaluation depends on the awareness of time spent and remaining.

One of the most successful #precommitment strategies I ever used was when I told my physio I'd pay a fine to charity whenever I didn't meet my exercise goals for the week.

When you learn how to avoid negative consequences your judgement becomes unsound.

#Precommitment

Something I learned while quitting #smoking...

To beat addiction you have to face the cravings, the hunger, the discomfort, the urge and gradually acclimatise to it.

As you do this, bit by bit, and you see that your world doesn't collapse, your sense of normal slowly shifts and changes... and you make a gain against whatever it is that's stealling your life and time.

My timetable is a battlefield where I win back my day.

#Precommitment:

-I have drafts of two papers and the base code of another one with some promising results laying around on my hard drive for quite some time! Let's start working on them!

-I should dedicate my time to one and only one task/project, but it's almost impossible. So I'm going to spend each day of the week on just one topic: 1- writing papers 2- applying for Ph.D. positions 3- working on my deep learning coding skills  4- improving my English spelling

It's become clear to today me that Masto has already fallen.

The problem isn't the #birdsite, #Twitter, the problem is people's behaviour around the world today.

I'd like to thank my 627 followers so much for pressing the "Follow" button, I really appreciated it. More than this, I found it healing. Thank you!!

I'm sorry to leave, but I can see that ME patients & dishonest researchers will hound me wherever go & I've had enough of it.

Am pleased to report a D grade in my health behaviour!

Why? Because it's better to know than to kid yourself. It's better to be accountable than to believe yourself to be perfect.

#Precommitment

Gosh my physio is tough, but I can't stop now without looking like a total loser.

Excellent.

#Precommitment

This week I corrected my bedtime and wakeup times and re-started exercise twice a day.

Yeah, the fact that my physio asked me to do these things and will be asking whether I actually did them, probably did give me the exact nudge that I needed!
