I've thought this a lot, but didn't say it because (a) a bit of denial, (b) I'm a little used to jumping ship, and (c) I don't see a real solution other than trying to back up one's contacts on a regular basis to other means of contact, but…

Basically, yeah, this bullshit with Twitch and Discord is deliberately destructive of online communities, which have been occasionally literally life and death for me, and there's really no denying that it will cause people to part ways against their wills.

So yeah, I'm setting up shop in other places, and suggesting folks do the same, but if it were feasible not to, I would just stay where I am and back up my contacts.

1) #CloudAct is just #CyberFacism, look it up!

-

2) @signalapp 's #Server code is proprietary and since it's centralized we can't trust that the code they release is what's running on their backend!

-

3) #Signal still demands #PhoneNumbers which are #PII either by association (#Number => #ICCID = #SIM = #IMSI => #IMEI => Location Data as I explained beforetwice) or mandatory #KYC / #ID requirements (even on prepaid cards), which an increasing amount of juristictions do...

But don't take my word for it.

General #privacy tip: Don't share unnecessary #PersonallyIdentifyingInformation

ASL (Age/Sex/Location) is not something anyone really needs a real answer to in the majority of cases, or any answer.

In most cases, blocking the party asking for such information is the right thing to do.
