Haushaltsgeräteriese SEB streicht weltweit bis zu 2100 Stellen.

Der französische Haushaltsgerätehersteller Groupe SEB, Mutterkonzern von Marken wie WMF, Krups, Tefal, Rowenta und Moulinex, hat einen umfangreichen Stellenabbau angekündigt. Weltweit sollen bis zu 2100 Arbeitsplätze wegfallen. Auch Standorte in Deutschland sind betroffen.

Was ich unter #Bürokratieabbau verstehen würde:

Vorschriften zu Bedienungsanleitungen und Warnhinweise/Sicherheitsbestimmungen zu Produkten etwas lockern.
(Aber bitte fragt mich nicht wie, ich habe hier keinen durchdachten Lösungsvorschlag, ist wohl auch Produkt- und Herstellerspezifisch)

Jedenfalls irre was da zum Teil mitgeliefert werden muss bzw. wird.
Und ich bin da noch eher die Ausnahme und schaue das zumindest mal durch. In meinem Verwandten-/Bekanntenkreis ist das nur der Fall, wenn es etwas komplizierter ist und ohne Anleitung das Teil/Gerät nicht oder schlecht verwendbar ist.

Und: Papier ist viel zu billig. Vieeel zu billig 🤷‍♂️. Weil anders ist es nicht zu erklären, dass #WMF zu JEDEM Druckkochtopf eine ca. 600 Seiten starke Bedienungsanleitung mitschickt.
Sehr viel #Altpapier für nix und wieder nix (nicht nur in diesem Fall, aber hier ganz besonders). 🤦‍♂️
Offenbar ist das Papier billiger als regional spezifische Anleitungen (mit z.B. 6 Sprachen) zu erstellen und beizulegen.

(Not exactly) today I Learned that Inkscape can open (and hence convert!) Windows MetaFile (.wmf) format files!

If you have a bunch of WMF files in the current directly, you can convert all of them into PDF with the following command line inchantation:

for file in *.[Ww][Mm][Ff] # Sometimes WMF files are capitalized in their extension
do
echo "Processing file: $file"
command="inkscape --export-filename=\"$file.pdf\" \"$file\""
echo "Command: $command"
inkscape --export-filename="$file.pdf" "$file"
done
```

The extension for the PDF files is appended, so that we can find the converted files with `ls *.[Ww][Mm][Ff].pdf`.
