Okay... I've got some pen and notebook notes... I've been working on in my head another pen-paper-d6 game. I call this one "Happy Hopper," and it's a "Frogger-inspired" game.
Steps:
1. Draw a 6x7 grid. The 7th row is the goal row, so give it a little extra boldness.
2. To start, place a dot on any square in the first row.
3. Roll a 1d6 (common dice). If you roll the same number as the column you've put a dot in, then you get squished. Place and X in this square. You can no longer "hop" into this square in the future.
4. If you got squished, you start from the first row again. Put a dot on any non-X'd square in the first row. If you did not get squished, then choose an adjacent square (front, back, sides, and diagonals) that does not have an X on it, put a dot in the chosen square, and return to step 3.
5. If you just placed a dot in the final row, rolled to see if you got squished, and survived, then place a smiley face in that square. If you got squished, you get an X there instead.
* You continue these loops, trying to navigate around blocked squares while getting safely to your home without getting squished. You can only enter an empty slot in the goal row, so where you need to reach also changes over time. If you have a goal square completely blocked off by X'd out squares, then it is considered X'd out as well.
* The number of smiley faces you have at the end of the game (when you can no longer hop or all of the goal row squares are full) is your score.
* Optional: You must roll the d6 once for each dot in the square. You've been there before, so the chance of something squishing you is higher.
The very-very first #prototype #draft of #SixAndGrid before I refined some things and snazzed-up the instructions. Also seen, a little card I played through a test game on :)
