New preprint alert! We analyzed four years of #PedalPoll data (thank you, volunteers!) and guess what: high-quality bike infrastructure is correlated with higher rates of people biking. @velocanadabikes.bsky.social @meghanwinters.bsky.social @sflkirk.bsky.social papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

Finished my shifts at Counter Point ID: 6554 in the 2025 #PedalPollSondoVelo. The first one (bottom in picture) is early and only an hour long because it was just a test of the app, since this is my first time.

@derekvanvliet Good morning, beautiful #PedalPoll volunteers. ;)

Not as many as I expected, but you were right!

(personal vehicles in this graph are e-scooters and a tractor that was moving garbage bins)

Yo #yegbike, it's #pedalpoll day, and I cheekily assigned myself to Clareview LRT Station East, away from the big bike thoroughfares downtown. I'll be counting from 4 to 6 pm. Inspired by https://social.coop/@Anibyl/114619750381195213, how many cyclists do you think I'll count there?

It's June, which means that #PedalPoll is back! I wonder, how many cyclists can I count on the seawall in two hours? 🤔 #Vancouver #BikeYVR #BikeTooter [ ] 0-500 [ ] 501-1500 [ ] 1500-3000 [ ] 3001-999999

Pedal Poll/Sondo Vélo

Pedal Poll/Sondo Vélo 2024 is taking place June 4 to 9. The count is a chance to evaluate the state of cycling in our communities. Together we get a “snapshot” of what cycling looks like in communities across Canada, at the same time, year over year. The data collected helps build the case for more, and better, cycling infrastructure. This growing data set is there for everyone to use to advocate for access to safe cycling choices for everyone, everywhere.
