Beautiful busy #PedalPoll shift on Yonge! Bike traffic was definitely starting to pick up near the end as the afternoon rush started. And I got counts in every category! One thing is clear: this city should be doing way more for pedestrians. They rule the town!

Every June, Vélo Canada Bikes runs their Pedal Poll across Canada. The 2026 edition is happening now, and there are *still shifts available*!

I counted 403 people during my 2-hour shift on the Iron Horse Trail in Kitchener yesterday, and enjoyed the beautiful warm-but-not-too-hot sunny day while doing it. 😀🚴🏼‍♀️❤️

I’m on my second year of a Pedal Poll shift!

Pedal Poll is a nationwide (select cities) Canadian participatory science (not just citizens, eh?) project to collect data on small scale mobility to use to advocate for safe active transportation infrastructure.

#PedalPoll shift complete! Just as the vibes suggested, there are a LOT of e-bikes and e-motos around here. Last year I counted 142 cyclists at this location, but this year there is major construction and the cycle track is completely closed. Still a respectable number riding bikes!
