Today is World Bicycle Day. It's also day one of the annual Vélo Canada Bikes Pedal Poll. I took a shift counting people on foot and on wheels on the Spur Line Trail in Kitchener, Ontario. There wasn’t a lot of traffic, but I encountered a cycling friend I hadn’t seen in a while and we chatted a bit while I counted! 😀🚴🏼♀️

Bike Month is back, and that means it's time for Pedal Poll! We're counting usage of active transit (and adjacent) facilities along corridors in our cities next week.

Pedal Poll/Sondo Vélo 2024 is taking place June 4 to 9. The count is a chance to evaluate the state of cycling in our communities. Together we get a “snapshot” of what cycling looks like in communities across Canada, at the same time, year over year. The data collected helps build the case for more, and better, cycling infrastructure. This growing data set is there for everyone to use to advocate for access to safe cycling choices for everyone, everywhere.
Our Cycling Guide mobile app is available in Waterloo Region and Guelph, and is currently in beta testing in Ottawa ON, Sarnia-Lambton ON, and Halifax NS.
