#yegbike commute: chilly at -6°C with light southwest winds. Surfaces mostly bare, but enough crunchy ice sections made me not regret taking the winter beater with spiked tires. Maybe last ride for that bike this season? Anyway, not a bad ride.
Traffic surprisingly light and well-behaved. Only a few people out and about, inner city medium active with only one sidewalk campfire.
Can’t really complain.

Hey Edmonton folks, grab a coffee or tea and join us this Friday for another Coffee Outside. We're at Constable Ezio Faraone Park in downtown Edmonton from 7:30 to 9 am. Walk, bike, or roll—everyone is welcome!

10am and it's still snowing! :o I guess it'll stay for another day...

This was from last night while it was still snowing. This morning was very wintery, and I had to take out the winter bike again. Just for a morning apppintment though. I imagine later today I'll be back on the summer bike again, looking at the high.

EDIT: I was wrong about that, it started snowing again instead!

Last day of snow to deal with in Edmonton, but next week we'll finally break 20°C!

#yeg #yegbike #yegwx

#yegbike commute: temperature just below zero -2°C with medium but gusty northeasterly winds. Some snow/mush overnight, but surfaces mostly just damp, with frosty sections. Spiked tires were not a bad idea, but not super icy - as yet. Some light snow, mostly melting on contact. Not as bad as I feared!
Traffic medium light and medium annoying. A few dog walkers and joggers. Inner city quite empty.
Not too bad for a mini winter last gasp.
#earworm was unfortunately a 90’s-ish easy listening R&B song I made up. Fairly Corrine Bailey Ray in style.
With the #yegwx forescast for overnight and tomorrow, the #yegbike commute vehicle will be the winter beater. A 0's or 10's Mountain bike with studded tires. Not that the studs will necessarily be required, but with rain/slush/snow at below zero, a wise idea.
The summer folder has been great for this spring-like shoulder season, but 20 inch tires are not up to an inch or 2 of snow in whatever form or state.
The winter beater has not yet been put away, nor even has the fatbike. And if I we were in Grande Prairie or Grande Cache, it probably would be the fatbike tomorrow.
We shall see.
And I'm not upset by the weather forecast for tomorrow at all, unlike my drivist coworkers who seem to expect to perish in snowmaggedon tomorrow.
I’m keen to bike to work, but an inexperienced city-biker. Last year I used my teenage son’s old bike, but I’m considering buying a used bike more suited to me (short old lady). #yeg #bike #yegbike Does anyone local have any suggestions for places to go for used bikes? I know I can check kijiji and facebook but am wary of stolen bikes and would prefer to buy from someone with some knowledge.

Just in: the Funicular is RUNNING today for your daily walk or bike commute. If you’ve got a hill to conquer, this is your sign to lace up and ride. Smooth ride ahead, stairs optional. Enjoy the climb and savor the quick, elevated vibe.
