Here’s my contribution to #NovellasInNovember - Loitering with Intent by Muriel Spark, 1981, a wonderfully clever story where life imitates art in the literary world #NovNov25 #reading #audiobook #BookReview #bookstodon

So, I guess NovNov is what we are calling the successor to NaNoWriMo...

I was on a cruise for most of the month. But, there are interesting videos and events that were recorded and I am catching up on.

Hopefully I will be able to participate next year. Hopefully it was a success and will return.

Does anyone have any observations or experiences they want to share from this one?

“…an aspect of tranquillity and peculiar beauty…” #novnov25 #maryshelley

Today's post is about another book which qualifies for two November events - Non Fiction November and Novellas in November (as we are allowed to include short non fiction works). I've not read as much non fiction as I wanted to during the month but this is a title I've been wanting to get to since it popped through the letterbox: …

“That means you’ll simply be deleted.” #TheTrial #Kafka #GLM2025 #NovNov25

One of the books I had lined up as a possibility for our #1925Club was a big hitter from that year - "The Trial" by Franz Kafka. It's a book which I don't think I've read since my early twenties, and although the concept remains clear in my mind, the detail has definitely gone! However, although I ran out of time for the Club, it was still on my radar, and when I was up in London in October I…

“There is no help for it: life has to be lived…” #GermanLitMonth #thomasmann #novnov25

This week, for German Literature Month, the focus is on the great writer Thomas Mann with a week set aside to celebrate his 150th birthday. Now to date, my only experience with his work is "The Magic Mountain", which I read back in 2015 (lordy, ten years ago!) I absolutely loved it, but have somehow never got to anything else by him.
