L'azzurro – testa di serie numero 18 del tabellone – si arrende in due set di fronte al norvegese Casper Ruud, 23esimo favorito del seeding, in un match condizionato anche da un'interruzione di quasi due ore per pioggia. ROME (ITALPRESS) – Luciano Darderi’s adventure ends in the semi-final at the Internazionali d’Italia 2026, the ATP Masters 1000 event held on the clay courts of the Foro Italico in Rome. The Italian, ranked 18th in the tournament, conceded in two sets against Norwegian Casper Ruud, the 23rd seed favorite, in a match also affected by a nine-minute rain interruption. Darderi immediately lost 6-1, 6-1 – in one hour and five minutes of play – having paid the price for the fatigue of his eighth-finals victory against German Zverev, and the quarter-final battle where he defeated young Spaniard Jodar. Lorenzo Musetti esce agli ottavi degli Internazionali a Roma. Il carrarino, numero 10 della classifica, ancora alle prese con problemi al bicipite femorale della gamba destra, è stato battuto in due set dal norvegese Casper Ruud, numero 25 del seeding, con il punteggio di 6-3 6-1 in un’ora e 18 minuti. Per qualità tecniche e interpretazione del match oltre a una percentuale vicino all’80% con le prime palle, Ruud ha gestito il match fin dai primi game, ma Musetti non è mai sembrato in grado di competere a causa dei problemi fisici accusati già contro Cerundolo. Sul 3-0 del secondo set Musetti ha chiesti un medical time out per rendere più stabile la fasciatura alla coscia, ma è servita a poco. Sfuma per l’azzurro la possibilità di raggiungere i quarti di finale a Roma per il secondo anno consecutivo, mentre Ruud avanza. Con questa sconfitta Musetti esce dalla Top 10 per la prima volta da quando ci è entrato, alla vigilia della scorsa edizione del torneo.
Musetti ha cercato di dare quello che poteva, onorando il torneo e rispettando il pubblico di Roma, che alla fine ne ha riconosciuto i problemi e lo ha comunque applaudito. Ma non era nelle condizioni fisiche di competere alla pari con Ruud, che arriva ai quarti di finale per la quinta volta agli Internazionali. The "Carrerino" (from Carrara), ranked 10th, still struggling with a right femoral biceps issue, was defeated in two sets by Norwegian Casper Ruud, ranked 25th, with a score of 6-3 6-1 in one hour and 18 minutes. Due to technical quality and match interpretation, as well as a near 80% success rate with the first serves, Ruud managed the match from the first games, but Musetti never seemed capable of competing due to the physical problems he was experiencing against Cerundolo. On 3-0 in the second set, Musetti requested a medical timeout to stabilize the thigh bandage, but it was of little use. The Italian lost the opportunity to reach the quarterfinals in Rome for the second year in a row, while Ruud advanced.
