While grass snakes can come in different colors, in the Nordics they tend to be black. Some of them are entirely black, even.
While usually correct, one shouldn't make an identification based solely on the snake being black. The common European adder can also be fully black. It is just less common. The yellowish white markings at the head, however, are a dead giveaway that this individual is a grass snake and not an adder.
Further differences are their round eyes as opposed to the adders slit eyes and the positioning, size, and shininess of the scales.
Grass snakes can grow to over a metre in size! Quite impressive when you get close. I don't recommend accidentally putting a bare foot down right beside one. It's quite the jumpscare for both human and snake involved. 😱
