when she wasn't busy being effortlessly avant-garde, nancy worked as a translator for the french resistance.

Today in Labor History March 10, 1896: Nancy Clara Cunard was born in London into the Cunard shipping dynasty. She was a surrealist writer, model, anarchist and an anti-fascist and anti-racist activist. Her family disinherited her because of her relationship with Henry Crowder, a Black jazz pianist from the U.S. She helped refugees from the Spanish civil war, wrote extensively about fascist Italy's invasion of Ethiopia, and worked as a translator for the French resistance during World War II. She was also active in the anti-racist movement in the U.S.

Ce jour, le 10 mars 1896, l’autrice surréaliste, modèle, anarchiste, et antiraciste durant toute sa vie Nancy Cunard est née au Royaume-Uni.

Héritière de la dynastie du trafic maritime Cunard, elle avait été déshéritée du fait de sa relation avec Henry Crowder un pianiste afro-américain.
Cunard avait participé de manière active à la publication des écrits par des personnes afro américaines, ce qui incluait Langston Hughes, et était complètement antifasciste.

Elle avait beaucoup écrit au sujet de l’invasion de l’Éthiopie par Mussolini, avait aidé les personnes réfugiées de la guerre civile espagnole et avait travaillé sans répit en tant que traductrice pour la résistance française pendant la seconde guerre mondiale.
