I see an article about #AdamBakes and his #NanaimoBars in The Citizen (noticed via the OttawaLookout newsletter).

I've tried them at the Westboro Bower Cafรฉ coffee shop a little while back, and they are indeed squarely in zone. A nice treat.

Dessert edition!

Canada is represented by Nanaimo bars! Relatively easy to make, very rich, but tasty! First time I've made this very familiar treat!

First documented in the early 1950s, the Nanaimo Bar (named after Nanaimo, British Columbia, on Vancouver island) is a three-layer, no-bake dessert. The bar consists of three layers: a coconut crumb base, a custard filling, and chocolate ganache on top. Often found at coffee shops, occasionally available on dessert menus, and a summer potluck staple, Nanaimo bars are a local tradition. For those traveling to B.C. as part of your Seattle vacation, consider driving up to Nanaimo, where maps of a complete circuit of Nanaimo Bar-related attractions are available, including consumption of Nanaimo Bar sundaes, martinis, cheesecake, and even waffles. Best dessertโ€”or best dessert EVER?

Gotta say - I lifted a pic from Duck-search image results for a jokey toot at #GottaLaff on the weekend (cred to #SpruceEats in its ALT text) and I'm still seeing it in my notifications occasionally, making me salivate.

It was grabbed on a whim, but damn, that is a good pic of #NanaimoBars, so I'm doing the right thing and sharing the recipe link so you can all go and make these delicious Canadian treats.

If they turn out looking like that, it's a big win.
