In this #OpenAccess work led by @salvabara , the visual impact of individual wind turbine #lights was #modeled and their brightness compared to the brightness of celestial objects visible to #nakedeye.
For typical lamps used in wind turbines, we’ve found that one might need to move more than 38 km away before no longer see their light (standard naked-eye visibility limit). For distances closer to 4 km, their lights even outshine the bright planet #Venus.

On a clear, dark night, far from city lights, you can see about 2,500 to 5,000 stars with the naked eye.

'New star' as bright as the North Star will ignite in the sky this year. Here's how to see it.

A nova outburst visible to the naked eye is expected to decorate the night sky this year with a "new star" that will briefly become as bright as the North Star, offering a once-in-a-lifetime stargazing opportunity.

The Powerhouse Giant: Incredible Bacteria So Big, You Can See It Without a Microscope

A groundbreaking study of the giant bacterium Epulopiscium viviparus shows its unique energy production, promising future applications in algae utilization. Not all bacteria are created equal. Most are single-celled and tiny, a few ten-thousandths of a centimeter long. But bacteria of the Epul

New 'potentially interstellar' comet will be visible to the naked eye next month before leaving our solar system forever
Comet Nishimura has a hyperbolic orbit, which suggests that it may have come from outside the solar system and will likely be catapulted into interstellar space after slingshotting around the sun.

#StayTuned for maybe a new #NakedEye #Comet coming over #September.

It's name is C/2023 P1 #Nishimura.

Currently at mag~10, some prediction are giving it up to mag ~2 by mid September. 🤞
It would be visible in the morning, before #sunrise.

Worth following the #hashtag #Nishimura.

It was a busy night. I only just caught the flare of the dummy mass near vega, was very lucky. then the next 3 came all at once.
I also got the Envisat rocket body but missed the sat itself a few minutes earlier.
And 3 repeats from yesterday.

It's amazing what you can see with your your #nakedeye when doing #amateurastronomy like this. Even when 2 streetlamps are 50-100ft away and theres trees everywhere.
Extra bonus, only one POS #starlink sat made itself known.
