The Veil Nebula Complex
===================

The Veil Nebula is a large supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus. The source supernova exploded between 10.000 and 20.000 years ago, and the remnants have since expanded to cover an area roughly 3 degrees in diameter (about 6 times the diameter, and 36 times the area, of the full Moon). The distance to the nebula is not precisely known, with estimates ranging from 1,400 to 2,600 light-years.

Dieses riesige Gebilde aus ionisiertem Gas entstand vor 10.000 bis 20.000 Jahren bei der Supernova eines Sterns von etwa 20-facher Masse unserer Sonne.

Das Bild wurde als Mosaik aus zwei Paneelen von je über 5h Belichtungszeit aufgenommen.

The Veil Nebula
============

This is the veil nebula, a giant remnant of a star, about 20 times our sun, going supernova between 10.000 and 20.000 years ago.

I'm really proud on this one as it's my biggest project so far. The image is captured as a two-panel mosaic, each combining over 5 hrs of exposure time.

This again was captured through a try-band filter, to enhance details using narrowband data. H-alpha areas are mapped to the red channel while H-beta and O-III are mixed into the blue one.
