The most brilliant bit of `little conversations' (concrete blonde, _free_, 1989) might be that...

"these little conversations, if i try my very best - you know i never could say anything in twenty words or less"

...is in fact, 21 words.

Well, here's a fun surprise.

React to the K did a whole crew reaction to Apink's Love Me More.

Funny to listen to them contrast the 2nd gen vibes and vocals of this release to the 4-5th gen stuff (or influenced by 4-5th) that they usually cover.

My Music with Rhiannon Giddens features musical performances and conversations with multicultural musicians in the Silkroad Ensemble’s American Railroad project. The project presents a musical exploration of the cultures that were first connected by the building of America's Transcontinental Railroad.

Our educational resources for this series include two music appreciation exercises: a Music Listening Exercise and a Song Analysis Exercise. These classroom-ready handouts can work with the music of the series or with songs of your choice. They are a great way to get students into a quiet, listening, reflective mode. They can work for classes in music or social studies, or as a flexible classroom warm-up (or cool down).

These exercises are designed for grades 6-12 and you can use them yourself, too. 6/9

#Jazz #MusicAppreciation . . .

This seems like reasonable advice on how to get started listening to jazz:

I got started when I bought this album when I was still a teenager in the 60's & I've been a jazz fan ever since:

Why is choral music harder to appreciate? - Marginal REVOLUTION

It has struck me that most recommenders and lovers of choral music and themselves singers (or conductors) of choral music.  It helps a great deal to be right there.  So it occurred to me there are a few reasons why choral music is harder to appreciate than say either symphonies or chamber music: 1. Marginal REVOLUTION

Almost two months before a new monthly show from Andrew Jervis premiered on Worldwide FM (the first episode is fabulous, by the way), I recorded a little something to honor his time well spent at Bandcamp, playing a bunch of artists and songs that I learned about while faithfully listening to Bandcamp Weekly over several years.

Shielded By Headphones: Thank You, Andrew.

The 30th of March came around and I couldn't sit by and continue to feel sorry for myself because I wasn't doing radio anymore. That never stopped me from sharing music before. And finding out that Andrew Jervis had been fired from his curatorial and hosting duties at Bandcamp was just the spark that I needed to finally set up shop and hit record. This trial run is really just an excuse to say thank you to Andrew, to show love for all of the artists and music that he represented proudly for during his time at Bandcamp. Not only that, but I figured I could also play some selections from the vast catalog of Ubiquity Records. It's one of my favorite independent labels and also where I first came to learn of the discerning ear and impeccable taste of Mr. Jervis. The first installment of Shielded By Headphones is here. And for that, I am grateful. Hope you enjoy it.
