OPENING SALVO
Netlabel Day 2026 is on the prowl...
New blog post: An open letter to Bandcamp
"Thank you so much for taking a stance against generative AI and banning AI-generated music from Bandcamp."
"Suno is, of course, the biggest platform for making generative AI music, the very thing you are banning from your site."
"Hope to see an alternative pop up that is more in line with your Bandcamp Fair Trade Music Policy."

It's been a little over a month since my Netlabel Day live stream archive hit the podcast feed, a two-hour journey through some Creative Commons licensed cuts representing the BSOTS sonic formula. For those that don't already know, Creative Commons is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. And this show just happens to have 25 CC music selections to share with the people. 👍🙂

The first BSOTS episode of 2026 rewinds the clock back to last July for my two-hour takeover of the Netlabel Day Radio stream. Nothing but Creative Commons licensed music from several netlabels and indie imprints, plus some virtual crate digging on Bandcamp, Free Music Archive, and Jamendo. Includes guest verses from Chuck D of Public Enemy and Kool Keith of Ultramagnetic MCs and Dr. Octagon fame. There's a live cut by APB recorded at the WFMU studios and even a Latin jazz joint that dates back to 1968. A little something for many, and hopefully served up in a way that makes sonic sense. Full show notes on the BSOTS blog at the link below: https://radiobsots.blogspot.com/2026/03/191-but-firstmusic-netlabel-day-2025.html
"Under the visionary leadership of gender violence prevention educator Wil DuBose, five men—Carter Paterson, Pablo Pizzaro, Michael Cupeles, Gabe Nyenator, and Tim Gregory—share their deeply emotional first-hand experiences with gender-based violence with boys and men in their neighborhoods while challenging them to change harmful attitudes and abusive behavior toward girls and women. Directed by Byron Hurt."

#Bandwagon just got a little better today, thanks to a great suggestion from @strypey
The player now connects more tightly to your laptop, phone, or even bluetooth speaker.. so that all your hardware media control buttons (like play/pause/skip) now work inside the album you're playing on Bandwagon.
That's enough for today, but there's more in the works coming soon.
And let me know: what do YOU need to make Bandwagon better?
"I remain a defiant hobbyist at heart, because the creative adult, is the child who survived, and there are some days where I feel like I have to fight to ensure, that the child survives into adulthood, and can still have fun."

From your lips to my ears brother! Came for the music, stayed for the righteous monologues. Love your work.

Macedonia dropped some kickarse tracks on the December edition of Radio BSOTS. But my favourite has to be The Democrats by Carsie Blanton, from the 2024 album The Red Album Vo1;
"Oh shit!
Oh dear
Here comes another election year
I’d rather have a stick in both my eyes
We’ll spend a billion dollars
Everybody screams and hollers
And either way
The planet fucking fries"

I feel ya Carsie ; )
