Apparently Debian packages MuseScore 3 but deliberately does not package 4. Good.

Apparently 4 is even worse/sketchier than we thought.

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1077944

There's also a fork mentioned in the bug there, "MuseScore Evolution 3.7". It's packaged as musescore-snapshot, apparently. It doesn't seem to have a proper website yet, just a git repo.

#1077944 - FAQ: musescore4 packaging - Debian Bug report logs

@elfin I mean this is serious criticism by @tantacrul and the fact that #Sibelius is a real production app that has de-facto monopolized #notation is fucking frightening to the point that if #Tantacrul wasn't busy making #MuseScore better I'd claim notation beyond manual writing is dead.

Hier, Ihr wisst doch immer alles.

Without the state and capital

https://word.undeadnetwork.de/

The world is changing rapidly. The old elites want to save their position with tanks, war, protectionism, and nationalism.
The online community has long since overtaken the old structures. Today, the open source concept is no longer just about programmers working together to write software. Open source is about sharing knowledge. What one person knows, everyone knows.

Good examples are highly successful projects that are only marginally noticed by the FOSS community. One such example is #Lichess, an open chess platform. Not only does it make it easy to quickly play a game of online chess, but it also contains the knowledge of chess enthusiasts and clubs around the world. Learning, analyzing, major tournaments—today, Lichess is the standard for everyone from grandmasters to beginners. Everyone benefits.

A similar situation can be seen with MuseScore, a music notation program. There are thousands of instruments in the world, each with its own syntax. Only a (global) community can achieve something like this.

Or Gotot, a programming engine for computer games. It already makes thousands of hobby/indie games possible today. A colorful anarchistic world.

I'm a (mostly) happy user of #Musescore but I'm taking a look to the other notation softwares. Which one do you use or recommend from the other 2 notation softwares still alive today (#finale is dead)?

That's cool, #MuseScore just automatically figured out cautionary clefs on either side of a repeat :)

Here is an extract of a strings quartet song I'm working on.

#MuseScore just feels really awkward and I can't put my finger on why. Useful for converting random formats to PDF's though.

#forScore seems to be more for performing than composition, I still need to try it with my page turning peddle, but it does allow me to annotate PDF's. Doesn't seem to let me import #guitar #tabs in random ascii formats though.

Any other suggestions I should try?
