USB-C display hot-plug causes 100% fan spin and system lag

I am using Ubuntu 26.04 on my ASUS Zenbook 14 laptop, which I connect to two external monitors via USB-C. Almost every other time I connect the monitors or disconnect the cable, the laptop fan starts

Problems with external monitors and docking station

I know the title is quite generic but I have more than one problem with external monitors attached to the docking station. I am using Ubuntu 24.04.4 on a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 with Nvidia Geforce RTX...

Déjà Dup Back Up - Time of Day - Monitor Wakes Up?

My PC lights up in the middle of the night about once a week. The monitor is just lit for maybe 20 seconds. Last night it was at 3:15 AM and I sleep in the same room. I suspect this the the Déjà Dup

My latest for @cryovex:

Multiple monitors are great for improving your workflow. Many people these days use two or three, but in some cases, the more, the merrier. While some docking stations support up to four external monitors, the new Plugable UD-7400PD utilizes the new Synaptics DisplayLink DL-7400 chipset to support up to FIVE monitors.

Only just learned the hotkey for moving a window between monitors:
shift + special + left or right arrow

(at least on #Fedora)

And I learned it by mistake!

I am now having that moment of: how did I *not* know this was a thing? Super nifty.

Was getting massive lag in Clip Studio Paint every 5 seconds that made drawing impossible. Here's my fix:

• I use multiple monitors
• It's a Windows Issue
• In Display Settings, I turned the monitors off until there was just one, then I turned them back on again

It was really bad. It made drawing impossible. It just kept getting worse. I think a recent Windows update caused it. No matter how much I looked for an answer, everything was a dead end, or the answers were really weird (like installing Krita somehow fixed the problem)

But not matter what I tried, nothing worked. A friend ended up suggesting that it was a common Windows issue with Windows 10 that was supposed to be fixed in Win 11, but it's not. Still mouse lag with multiple monitors

I was close to trying to uninstall and reinstall the program, but nope. Turning the monitors off and on again happened to fix it. So I'm putting this info out there for anyone else that may be having this problem

SPECIFICALLY it's an issue with multiple monitors at DIFFERENT refresh rates. I just got a 165 Hz monitor while my other monitors are 60 Hz

EDIT: Little addendum to this. That did work, but it needed a bit more. Problem came back when I reopened CSP.

I had to exit out of two apps that were running. MSI Center and OnScreenStartUpApp. Now no lag at all

I finally upgraded my Intel iMac to MacOS 14 Sonoma last night. The biggest improvement for me is that making a window fullscreen places it just after the current virtual desktop. For some reason, I have 7 virtual desktops on my main monitor.

And just now I noticed that the accessibility zoom works per-monitor. So it's always possible to scroll the zoomed region.

Tiny things that didn't even make the release notes.
