DOROI could watch this film again and again if I wasn’t so devastated afterwards, Elaine May’s existential and heartbreaking masterpiece about friendship and masculinity, Mikey and Nicky. I’m always in awe of her direction and the superb performances by long-time personal friends John Cassavetes and Peter Falk. The film was shot entirely at night and the grain is crazy, but this is New Hollywood, so we don’t care.
