Not surprised the #Tory #Councillors comments caused a shitstorm - I am not aware of *any* divided or no-go area in #Stowmarket caused by #Muslims or #Turkish folk (there aren't even that many there to start with, less than 100 in a town with population 21 500!)

A #pub landlord in #NeedhamMarket #MidSuffolk closed his pub early due to the amount of abuse his staff were getting. This is a relatively small town with barely 4 700 people, and considered more affluent and safer than the urban sprawl of #Ipswich !

Interestingly in this article he claims #alcohol isn't always the issue - whilst I'm slightly cynical that he wouldn't want to admit to serving punters who are too intoxicated (a licensing violation in this country), I know #Suffolk well enough to fully believe him, there are plenty of angry people on a short fuse and they can be worse out in the sticks (where Police response times are longer, as the old bill have to travel from the outskirts of Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds)

How long has ToryBoy been a #Councillor in #Stowmarket ? He's probably led quite a sheltered life - Its not *that* peaceful a town , this sort of sketchy casual #violence happens all the time out there, my friends were talking about it 10-15 years ago..

There's easily as much of it as in #Ipswich but because both the offenders and victims are generally white, younger men who know one another and the injuries aren't always that serious, it tends not to get reported as much (in some cases the #Police don't even get involved, leading to a spiral of attacks and reprisals) #MidSuffolk #Suffolk #crime
