Also known as the creeping cucumber, it's a cousin of Melothria Scabra (cucamelons) that is cold hardy down to zone 7 and maybe even 6.
It's fruit is smaller than cucamelons and supposedly a bit more sour, they are perfectly edible when unripe with a light or medium green color, but as Green Dean puts it, become the mother of all laxatives when ripe, so dont eat it when it's dark green.
