Those red beets are just looking beautiful, aren’t they?
Last snow of the season? I used the chance to climb my local mountain Hahnenkamm. 8 to 12 cm of fresh snow and snow drifts of up to 30 cm!
Here you can find an interview on the published paper on #tornado s in Germany on Deutschlandfunk (im German): https://www.deutschlandfunk.de/tornado-statistik-in-deutschland-gibt-es-pro-jahr-ca-50-bestaetigte-wirbelwinde-100.html
Tornado-Statistik: In Deutschland gibt es pro Jahr ca. 50 bestätigte Wirbelwinde

Are you interested in tornadoes in Germany (temporal+spatial distribution) you should read our recently published paper. It is the first detailed statistical analysis since the paper of Dotzek (2003). Would be happy to learn about statistics in other European countries!

Not much and already a bit above zero...but it feels at least a bit like winter.❄️
And the sun is shining...☀️
Some garden winter impressions from last weekend, the coldest since almost 40 years (minimum <-9°C).

It's done! Since last weeks Thursday, I've done nothing but apples in my free time.

Final outcome:

I have collected 2549 kg (2,5 tons!) of apples for the cider mill. I had 65 liters of apple juice made. I have stocked up on a large supply of apples for my own and gave away some apples for those, that were interested

I can definitly say, it was truly a historic fruits season. I am pretty sure that this cannot be easily repeated!

These are the poor apples that did not make it into the storage or to the cider mill.
The scales show now 1.6 tons. It is however not just about to bring all the apples to the cider mill but its also important to stock up on apples for the winter for yourself.
Although autumn is not my favorite season...but this is what I love of about it.
