The #MayFourthMovement began #ThisDayInHistory in 1919 with student protests in #TiananmenSquare. The young nationalists were incensed at Beijing's acquiescence to the #VersaillesTreaty awarding parts of #Shandong to Japan (the region had been held by Germany before World War I).

Today and all days, down with imperialism and imperialists of every colour and stripe.
