One reason I greatly prefer Mastodon over Bluesky is that Bluesky (much like Twitter before it) cultivates this very elaborate game of hostility theater. You're encouraged to voice your opinions as inflammatorily as possible, both to impress the people who are on your side and to upset the people who aren't. Bad faith arguments become a kind of litmus test, filtering out the people who unconditionally support you from everybody else.

Yeah. IMHO a collection is not a toot & shouldn't be treated as such.

I say "Mastodon has changed..." but now I'm wondering if it's due to a change by NeoDB, which has been making changes all the time recently. (I'm still struggling with its new hashtag autocomplete.)

Mastodon has changed the way it previews a linked NeoDB collection:
- before, the middle of the cover image & the title in large text
- now, like a quote post, with the poster's info & first few lines of small text. No title, no cover image.

As perhaps the only person regularly posting NeoDB collections on Mastodon (& someone who has changed the design of NeoDB collection cover images for better preview on Mastodon), I'm not sure I approve! 😅

My name is Samantha or Sam for short, I've been using the Fediverse for close to 5 years now hoping between and running various Instances.

I prefer the software Sharkey as it gives a high character count along with some amazing quality of life features including alias' for custom emojis you can use for reactions but it can also can be used on a good amount of Mastodon based apps due to the Mastodon API Integrations.

I run a little Sticker making business that I'm slowly building up and have recently started selling Fediverse Stickers that ship all over the world.

I'm a huge advocator for the Fediverse and am hoping to start a local monthly group to showcase "What the Fediverse is", "Why you should be using the Fediverse" as well as "How to use the Fediverse". This is something I'm still planning out and trying to get rolling but I'm sure I'll share the details as it develops.

I also love video games, I've started trying to expand my type of titles I play but normally tend to lean towards, Minecraft, Hytale, Counter Strike 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, GTA V, Hitman, Satisfactory or someother strange game I can loose myself in for hours. Happy for new suggestions for games for the future. (Mainly play on PC with Steam these days)

Mastodon Question: I am using the deck version of the website. There is a person in my Home feed that I do not follow and the post has not been boosted by anyone afaik. How did they get there?

It's not a problem, I don't need to block anyone. It's just not how I understood mastodon to work, so now I am curious.
