My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

The 2022 Korean translation of Locked in Time (by Dean Lomax) commissioned me to colourise my 50 greyscale illustrations. "In the wake of colossus" shows some Limusaurus trapped in the muddy track left behind by a Mamenchisaurus, which has attracted a predatory Guanlong.

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

In 2020 I illustrated LOCKED IN TIME, written by Dr Dean Lomax. Here's my "In the Wake of Colossus" painting, depicting six Limusaurus stuck in a muddy footprint left by a passing Mamenchisaurus, and a predatory Guanlong (right).

Mamenchisaurus (Jurassic World, Legacy Collection by Mattel)

Mattel’s previous large sauropods made sense. Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus, and Dreadnoughtus all had significant screen time in the Jurassic franchise. And even though Mattel dutifully, and shockingly, made toys of them all, fans wanted more. Yes, among the Jurassic fanbase there was a subset of collectors yearning for the Mamenchisaurus, which featured briefly enough in The Lost World to […]

#Jurassic Sauropod Dinosaur Had 15-Meter-Long Neck
https://www.sci.news/paleontology/mamenchisaurus-sinocanadorum-neck-11744.html

“All #sauropods were big, but jaw-droppingly long necks didn’t evolve just once. #Mamenchisaurids are important because they pushed the limits on how long a neck can be, and were the first lineage of sauropods to do so. With a 15-m-long neck, it looks like #Mamenchisaurus sinocanadorum might be a record-holder — at least until something longer is discovered.”

An international team led by Stony Brook University #paleontologist Andrew J. Moore, PhD, has revealed that a Late #Jurassic Chinese #sauropod known as #Mamenchisaurus sinocanadorum sported a 15-meter-long neck.

Re-assessment of the Late Jurassic eusauropod Mamenchisaurus sinocanadorum Russell and Zheng, 1993, and the evolution of exceptionally long necks in mamenchisaurids

The sauropod genus Mamenchisaurus, from the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous of East Asia, has a convoluted taxonomic history. Although included in the first cladistic analysis of sauropods, only rec...
