For those of you who don't know, the Major Oak tree has stood in Sherwood Forest near Edwinstowe for about 1,000 years. It's linked to the Robin Hood stories. I'm pretty much bang in the middle of the area Robin used to "live in".
Well it's been officially declared dead. It's lived through the Battle of Hastings, the Wars of the Roses, the English civil war, and two world wars.
1000 years of history.

The Masked School Library TechThis has made me unreasonably sad. The Major Oak in Sherwood Forest has been officaially declared as dead this Spring. Such a massive part of my life. I loved going to Sherwood to say hello to the Oak. And it was one of the places I insisted we had to take the kids when we went back for a visit. Fuck climate change.
