Sending out an email to my dev team changing our meeting time this week to Wednesday. I for one will be participating in the strike and will not expect anyone else who works with me to show up when I won't even be there.
We all have the right and at this point, the obligation to stand up for what we believe in.
But we still have responsibilities and obligations in our personal and professional lives.
Don't give anyone the grounds to use your participation on Friday against you! Instead, make arrangements, communicate with your teams and your employers and colleagues your intent. Reschedule meetings. Let people know in advanced that you are participating and that you need scheduling accommodations.
We have the right and obligation to protest, but we need to do it right. Don't let them have any power in using your ideological and political position against you.
