HMS Fiji was the lead ship of the Fiji-class (also called the Crown Colony-class) of light cruisers. Commissioned in 1940.
On 22 May 1941, after exhausting much of her anti-aircraft ammunition during repeated attacks, HMS Fiji was struck by bombs from German aircraft off Crete. Severely damaged and unable to defend herself effectively, she capsized and sank. https://www.destinationsjourney.com/historical-military-photographs/hms-fiji-1940-british-light-cruiser/ #SecondWorldWar #cruiser #HMSFiji #lightcruiser #maritimehistory #naval #Navy #RoyalNavy #warship
