I feel the advice was bit of teaching grandma to suck eggs. If anything it was just an excuse to post an image from my 60th birthday cruise back in 2008.

The one advantage of #canal #boats is that they tend to be well insulated compared to a boat you might hire on the #NorfolkBroads. The fifty year old ex-Broads hire #cruiser we now own is totally uninsulated and even a brand new Webasto diesel heater fails to keep that warm when there's #ice on the #river.

You can read about that at:

Dupleix (1930) French Heavy Cruiser
The forth and last of the Suffren class heavy cruisers built for the French Navy. Her only action was a bombardment of Italian coastal targets near Genoa and Vado Ligure. She was scuttled at Toulon along with other French warships under Vichy control on 27 November 1942. #cruiser #heavycruiser #FrenchNavy #maritimehistory #navalhistory https://www.destinationsjourney.com/historical-military-photographs/dupleix-1930-french-heavy-cruiser/

HMS Spartan was a British light cruiser commissioned on 12 July 1943. In Jan 1944, Spartan was stationed off Anzio during Operation Shingle. On 29 Jan she was attacked by German aircraft using a guided bomb, probably a Henschel Hs 293 radio-controlled glide bomb. Spartan sank quickly in shallow water with heavy loss of life among her crew. https://www.destinationsjourney.com/historical-military-photographs/hms-spartan-british-light-cruiser/ #cruiser #hmsspartan #LightCruiser #maritimehistory #NavalHistory #royalnavy #secondworldwar #warships #worldwartwo #ww2 #WWII
