For years I've postponed fixing the shell of my #librem13, thinking I must have not been gentle enough of this premium #laptop.
I was not ready to part with it for some time and pay to send it to #purism across an ocean…
Finally, I recreated with solder and a drill the hole that a screw had gone through. Not beautiful but good enough.
But then I found out, that most screws of the laptop are actually screwed in a cheap plastic that broke in many places, leaving them hanging freely. The outside of the hinge, made of the same plastic is also cracked in two places.
So, now I don't see any way to fix it, and I now feel like I've been played by @purism.

My poor #Librem13 is suffering today. I am rebuilding my #funtoo VM an emerging the world on the laptop itself.

Does anyone know if you can replace the keyboard on a @purism #Librem13, I want to pass it on to one of my siblings but I would need to change the layout to German it already has an ISO keyboard.

@cryptgoat Ich habe auch jahrelang gewartet - bin direkt am Anfang der Crowdfunding-Phase eingestiegen. Leider liegt es seither nur rum, da ich nicht die erhoffte Zeit hatte (und habe), mich mit Linux und all dem Kram zu beschäftigen, um es für mich alltagstauglich zu bekommen.

Mit meinem #Librem13 V1 lief es damals schneller, wenn auch ohne die versprochene QWERTZ-Tastatur. Im Einsatz ist es noch immer.

Time to rebuild my network, I am still not happy.

So back to the DrayTek for my DSL Line, and the routing and VPN will be done by the #OpenWRT box again. I might also use my spare #Librem13 as a second #ESXi for my Managment Cluster
