Crazy, just crazy! There is this country out there where, when the government does something bad or it simply doesn't do good enough for the people, the people ask for a strike. And then they actually STRIKE! It is so weird and amazing, and effective. I wonder if anyone in my country has ever thought of or tried that...

The sign means scholar on strike in English. There are tree branches with green leaves in the top of the frame and a brick apartment building in the background. The person with the sign looks outward to the right, and is surrounded by several other people that are slightly out of focus.)

💸 Wow, who knew fighting labor unions was such a lucrative business strategy? Maybe next they'll spend billions to eradicate vacation days! 😂 Meanwhile, employees are left to wonder what $1.5B could do if spent on, I don't know, better wages or healthcare. 🤔

Chicago Sun-Times - All | Bills for AI, data centers, energy and gaming are circling the drain in Springfield by Rich Miller

AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information.

Bills on artificial intelligence, data centers, energy and gaming are languishing in the Illinois Capitol as the spring legislative session nears its May 31 adjournment. The AI proposals in both chambers appear engineered to pass only one house, and growing partisan and procedural rifts—exacerbated by a leaked Senate staff email and disputes over a megaprojects bill that includes a new Bears stadium—have stalled progress. Governor JB Pritzker’s call for a two‑year moratorium on state tax breaks for data centers has run into union criticism and local officials who crave the property‑tax revenue without accompanying service costs, while a narrow transparency measure is the only likely outcome; similar gridlock affects the governor’s housing‑zoning proposal and pending energy‑ and gaming‑related bills. Meanwhile, revised revenue forecasts from the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget and the legislative forecasting commission show a near‑zero growth outlook for the next fiscal year, indicating a “maintenance” budget unless new taxes on wealthy individuals or corporations are enacted.

Sometimes a spark occurs and stuff starts moving again. Sometimes, stuff is set aside until more talks can be held over the summer. Sometimes, stuff just dies.
