👋 @bmatb, happy #LGBTSTEMday! I'm Rebecca and I'm a queer PhD student at Oxford doing research on earthquake mechanics.
I get lots of joy from building queer community (and if like today community involves lots of snacks and ice cream, then even better!)
Ηi! I'm Kostas, a gay #electronics engineer from the UK.
Once upon a time I was doing research in medical electronics, but these days I lead teams of engineers to design tiny microchips for cars, medical devices and all sorts of sensing the world around us!
Also a big advocate of increasing visibility and uptake of #lgbtq+ folks in #stem
Today is #LGBTSTEMDay a day to recognize the presence and contribution of #LGBTQIA2S #queer folks in #STEM fields!
I’m so grateful for all my amazing queer friends and mentors over the years! They helped me see that I had a place here, first as a bi/pan individual, then as an trans individual when I came out as non-binary (agender) a few years ago!
I’m trying to pay that forward, supporting the @queerornithology community and beyond!
Happy #LGBTSTEMDay! Our artist @[email protected] (she/they) was inspired to promote queer representation by illustrating some contemporary queer STEM researchers – keep reading to find out a little about each person pictured! 🏳️🌈🧵
