Jon S. Baird, escocés, dirigió en 2013 la adaptación de la segunda novela de Irvine Welsh, otro escocés: Filth. Conociendo los antecedentes del autor original se puede suponer hacia donde camina la historia. Sucede un crimen racial y al protagonista (un detective sin escrúpulos y muchas rayas de coca) se le encarga la investigación mientras se encuentra en una carrera con otros compañeros por un ascenso laboral, ahí es donde se encuentra el foco de la historia mientras el crimen queda en segundo plano (luego cobra cierta relevancia). Muy buena actuación de James McAvoy con esos cambios de humor al navegar por la espiral de la autodestrucción.
