Why is it so hard to rewrite a genome?

Synthetic biologists have the know-how and ambition to retool whole genomes. But the hidden complexity of biological systems continues to surprise them.

So JVCI are now recommending that from now on, #Covid19 vaccines should be limited to those over 75, care home residents, and people who are immunosuppressed.

The government claims to be worried about the number of people not working because they're on long term sick leave, and yet they don't seem keen to take even the most basic precautions to keep us safe from a disease that can make us long-term sick.

Absolutely bonkers.

Professor Christina Pagel’s latest update on the UK’s entirely capable and resilient 2024 Covid vaccination planning:

“JCVI relies on bespoke modelling for its recommendations for booster rollout but the main model was coded in Python and they had to stop using it because the staff member that knew Python had left.”

In Ireland: 'adults will be offered a booster dose if age 50 or older', @HSELive
In the UK, #JCVI advises
'adults age 75 years and over, be offered a COVID-19 vaccine this spring.' @UKHSA
Defies evidence-based reasoning?

So, @UKHSA, in Ireland:
