Following the ousting of President Castillo last December, the struggle in Peru is sharpening, with state repression against protestors and activists. The international labour movement must show solidarity with Peruvian workers and peasants.
Nurses in the RCN have taken their first ever day of national strike action, to combat the severe crisis in the NHS. We spoke to nurses at picket lines across the country, who were determined to win their struggle against the bosses and the Tories.
Despite a barrage of attacks from the capitalist media, striking rail workers are holding firm. Joined by striking posties and nurses in solidarity, Socialist Appeal supporters also visited RMT pickets across the country. The mood is clear: it’s time to take on the bosses.
Britain’s winter of discontent has begun. With nurses, ambulance staff, and border guards all taking action, the country is set for its biggest month of strikes in decades. And the struggle is set to intensify, as the Tories threaten repression.

Hong Kong’s mass movement against the Chinese state’s attempt to control the territory has been spurred forward by the whip of counterrevolution. On Sunday 21 July, as protestors returned home from demonstrating, around 50 thugs dressed in all-white burst onto a subway train and indiscriminately attacked passengers with poles and other blunt objects.
