Reino Unido and Denmark Now Closer Than Ever Through New Energy Interconnector

Reino Unido and Denmark have strengthened their connection through the newly operational Viking Link, a 765 km long high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable interconnector. This project marks several milestones, including being the world's longest submarine power cable, enabling the exchange of surplus energy between the two countries, and reducing carbon emissions. The interconnector has the potential to save British consumers more than £500 million in the first decade by importing less expensive energy, equivalent to removing around 280,000 cars from the roads. This new infrastructure is a significant piece in the ecological transition of the energy sector, benefiting both countries' energy markets and promoting green energy.
