The government of the Netherlands has presented an EUR967m action plan to mitigate the effects of the energy crisis due to the US-Iran conflict (Dutch government press release, 20/04/2026), including EUR627m in spending measures and EUR340m in targeted tax measures.

Vung Ang II Thermal Power (VAPCO), the project investor in the 1.32 GW Vung Ang II coal-fired power plant in Ky Loi (Vietnam), has officially inaugurated the project (VietnamNet, 20/04/2026). The USD2.2bn ultra-supercritical (USC) project was developed under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model by a strategic partnership of Japanese and Korean investors, namely Mitsubishi Corporation (60%) and KEPCO (40%).
