This chart is wild in terms of the capacity of diesel generators versus grid capacities in these African countries. Would you consider purchasing carbon offsets if the income went towards providing these people with solar/battery generators and scrapping the diesel ones? #EnergySky

According to a US EIA release, China had the largest strategic oil reserves in the world as of as of December 2025, before the coordinated emergency release agreed following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz (US EIA press release, 20/04/2026). According to analysis, China added large volumes to its commercial inventory during 2025 (average of 1.1 mbl/d) reaching almost 1.4 Gbl of crude oil at the end of the year.

Noon Energy and Meta agree on up to 1 GW/100 GWh ESS for US data centres

Noon Energy, a US developer of ultra-long duration energy storage (ultra-LDES), has announced an agreement with Meta Platforms to reserve up to 1 GW/100 GWh of energy storage capacity in the United States. The collaboration will begin with a 25 MW/2.5 GWh project, scheduled for completion by 2028, following which Noon will begin delivering systems under a 1 GW/100 GWh supply contract.

Quite a few non-energy experts are quote posting this #EnergySky post like this is a good thing whereas this is horrible in terms of rapidly manufacturing as many batteries as we possibly can which is something that we absolutely need to be doing right now.
